Lingfield cancels hurdle meet
Lingfield's hurdle course has become unraceable due to waterlogging and the Surrey track will now hold an all chase and bumper card on Saturday.
This means the feature December Novices' Chase, a Grade Two with a host of interesting entries, will go ahead and the British Horseracing Authority have created a new card consisting of the three existing chases and a bumper, plus two new chases and another junior bumper.
Neil Mackenzie Ross, the clerk of the course, said: "November has seen unprecedented levels of rainfall, with 222mm falling and a further 50mm already this month, which has resulted in the hurdle course becoming waterlogged and unfortunately leaving us with areas of the track which are not safe to race over.
"By putting on an all chase and National Hunt Flat race card. we are putting ourselves in the best position for racing to go ahead on Saturday."
All additional races will close at noon on Wednesday.
