Galway-based Tolan Foodservice has been bought by BWG Foods for an undisclosed sum.

Tolan specialises in the distribution of chilled, fresh and frozen groceries to the food industry.

Founded in 1996, Tolan currently employs 49 staff.

BWG Foods is owned by the BWG Group who also operate the franchise for the Spar and Mace retail outlets in the Republic of Ireland.

The purchase price was not disclosed.
