Profits at the Irish bookmaker Paddy Power have fallen after being hit by a run of unfavourable sports results.

Profits at the Irish bookmaker Paddy Power have fallen after being hit by a run of unfavourable sports results.

Pre-tax profits in the first six months of the year were down 20% to €62m.

However, the company said it had a successful World Cup, adding 148,000 online customers.
