Passenger numbers up at Easyjet

Low-fare airline easyJet increased its passenger numbers last month despite having to axe more than 600 flights due to a French air traffic control strike.

EasyJet carried just over six million passengers in April 2015 – a 3.8% rise on its April 2014 total.

The airline carried more than 66.2 million passengers in the 12 months ending April 2015 – a 6.2% increase on the total for the 12 months ending April 2014.

Another low-fare airline that overcame industrial action last month was Scandinavian carrier Norwegian whose flights include transatlantic services out of Gatwick airport.

Despite a pilots’ strike, Norwegian carried 2.1 million passengers in April 2015, an increase of 7% compared with April 2014.
