DeGeneres keeps internet momentum going for Crystal Swing
Crystal Swing, the three-piece family band from Lisgoold, Co Cork have gone international after their song ‘He Drinks Tequila’ was mentioned by ‘American Idol’ judge Ellen DeGeneres.
The comedienne, actress and popular daytime television host and was recently announced as a new judge for the American Idol song competition.
On her Twitter page on Wednesday, Ellen posted a link to the YouTube clip of Crystal Swing, made up of Mary Murray-Burke, her son Derek and daughter Dervla.
The trio have become an internet sensation in recent weeks after they appeared on Rural TV and their video was picked up by bloggers and Twitter users.
Ellen DeGeneres has more than four million Twitter followers. Her post on the micro blogging website was forwarded by thousands more. As a result, the YouTube video of ‘He Drinks Tequila’ has been viewed more than 140,000 times.
Crystal Swing are set to appear on ‘The Late Late Show’ at a later date, "just not for this week", Ryan Rubridy said on Twitter.
