An armed robbery took place at a post office in Co Kerry today.

An armed robbery took place at a post office in Co Kerry today.

It happened at 4.05pm this afternoon when two men armed with a what appeared to be a handgun threatened staff at Tarbert Post Office.

They escaped with a small amount of cash in a black Mitsubishi Colt car which was found burnt out a short distance away.

No shots were fired and no-one was injured.

Gardaí in Listowel are appealing for anyone with information to contact them on 068-50820.
