The Army bomb disposal team has carried out a controlled explosion on a home-made bomb found in County Longford.

The Army bomb disposal team has carried out a controlled explosion on a home-made bomb found in County Longford.

The suspect device was found at a house in Edgeworthstown this afternoon.

A number of nearby homes were evacuated following the discovery and a cordon was put in place.

The device was removed from the scene to a greenfield site where it was made safe.
