Imitation firearms, drugs and cash has been seized by Gardaí investigating dissident and criminal activity in Cork.

A team of around 60 detectives raided houses and businesses in Cork city and the Cork North garda division early this morning.

The raids were carried out following threats from a vigilante group to kill more drug dealers.

The same group claimed responsibility for the murder of 42-year-old Ger Staunton who was shot dead in Wilton last month.

The imitation firearms are being sent to Ballistics for further examination.

Gardaí say no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
