Garda support scrambled to 'large-scale' Finglas fight

Gardaí remain at the scene of a large- scale fight in the Finglas area of Dublin last night.

It's understood armed Gardaí and the air support helicopter were deployed to the scene after two groups got involved in a row at Avila Park off the Cappagh Road.

Rumours of a shooting, which spread quickly on social media, were denied by the Gardaí.

Property was damaged and a 34-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment to severe lacerations to his head and back.

Dublin Fire brigade sent a fire engine and an ambulance to the scene at around 8.45pm.

Despite a standoff between Gardaí and those involved, no arrests were made.

Gardaí are now looking for a motive and investigating if the disturbance is linked to a shooting last week.
