Gardaí are appealing for information following the discovery of two bodies in a house in Limerick.

The bodies of a man and woman, aged in their 20s, were found in two locations in the house at Castleoaks View, O'Malley Park.

Gardaí are anxious to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of the house last night or this morning or to anyone with any information that may help their investigation.

The discovery of the bodies of the man and woman was made at around 11.30am this morning after an ambulance crew and Gardaí were alerted following a 999 emergency call.

Gardaí believe both parties were shot. The body of the woman was found in an upstairs bedroom in the house- the man found close to a downstairs back door.

The man was known to Gardaí and detectives are following several lines of inquiry in their investigation.

The State Pathologist is to carry out a post mortem on the bodies later today and the scene, at Castleoaks View, O’Malley Park, is to be the subject of a detailed forensic examination.

Gardaí at Roxboro Road are appealing for information on 061-214340.
