Gardaí have arrested three men following a robbery of a post office this morning in Manorcunningham in Co. Donegal.

Gardaí have arrested three men following a robbery of a post office this morning in Manorcunningham in Co. Donegal.

The robbery occurred at around 10.15am when three men entered the post office in Manorcunningham armed with a knife, a hammer and a sledge hammer.

They threatened staff and caused damage in the post office and then left with a sum of money in the direction of Newtowncunningham in a van.

The van was stopped by Gardaí close to the border at the village of Killea and the men, aged in their 20's and 30's, were arrested.

Two of the men are being detained at Letterkenny and one man is being held in Buncrana.

The van has been seized and is being forensically examined and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them at Letterkenny Garda station.
