Green Party TD Paul Gogarty says he can make the transition from maverick to mayor in order to become the new Dublin Mayor.

Green Party TD Paul Gogarty says he can make the transition from maverick to mayor in order to become the new Dublin Mayor.

New legislation will be in place next year providing for a new directly-elected mayor and the TD - best known for his foul mouthed tirade in the Dáil last year - says he wants the job.

He's launched a new website - mayor4dublin.ie - to canvass the views of voters, on what

the priorities of the new Mayor should be.

He says he can put the past behind him and compares himself to the outspoken London Mayor Boris Johnson.

Deputy Gogarty says the new Mayor will have to cut staff and reduce costs by 15%.
