Gardaí are investigating two fatal road crashes yesterday in Longford and Limerick

A 42-year-old man died when the teleporter he was driving collided with a car near Granard in Co Longford at around 2.30pm.

Three adults and a child were in the car, but they all escaped injury.

In Limerick, meanwhile, an 11-year-old boy died after being hit by a jeep while cycling on the Ardpatrick Road near Kilmallock just after 6pm.
