RTÉ determined to force pay cuts for top earners

The director general of RTÉ has conceded that the company could lose some of its top names to competitors as a result of pay cuts.

The director general of RTÉ has conceded that the company could lose some of its top names to competitors as a result of pay cuts.

However, Noel Curran told students at DCU last night that they would be replaced.

He also pledged that the fees for top RTÉ talent would be cut by 30% in the next two years, and that by the end of this year, RTÉ would have 300 fewer members of staff than in 2008.
