Thousands queue to get into work expo in Cork

The Working Abroad Expo is taking place in Cork today and has so far attracted thousands.

The Working Abroad Expo is taking place in Cork today and has so far attracted thousands.

The event proved to be very popular in Dublin last weekend, with up to 10,000 people attending the jobs fair in the RDS.

The Expo has attracted more t hen 90 exhibitors from Canada, Australia and New Zealand, looking to fill job vacancies.

Some people queued overnight outside the Silversprings Hotel in Cork and were some of the first into the event this morning.

One man said: "I left school when I was 16 years of age, and I have been working since I was 16. I am now 44 years of age and every day I send out CVs looking for work, but there is nothing out there. Joan Burton says there is work out there, where is it?"

Another man said: "I arrived at 1.30 last night. I worked in construction and have been out of work for the last 18 months. With the boredom and being broke I am sick of it."
