Tipp reach Tommy Murphy Cup final
Tipperary 0-15 Roscommon 0-11, Thurles
Tipperary will meet Wexford in Sunday week's Tommy Murphy Cup final after getting the better of Roscommon - 0-15 to 0-11 - in Thurles tonight.
The Semple Stadium tie was originally scheduled for last Saturday, but a clash with the Roscommon county championship forced a postponement.
Seamus McCarthy's Tipp side, idle since July 16 due to a walkover win over Antrim, briefly led 0-4 to 0-1, but four points from Stephen Lohan helped the visitors back to 0-8 apiece by half-time.
Lohan (0-7) and Karol Mannion (0-3) kept up the fight for the westerners in the second half, but a purple patch in which Declan Browne bagged three points saw Tipp pull clear for victory. Sub Niall Fitzgerald also got on the scoresheet near the finish.
The Murphy Cup final will precede the Armagh v Dublin/Tyrone All-Ireland semi-final at Croke Park on September 4.
