Vintners call for clarity on what taxes are 'coming down the road'
A Cork publican is calling on the Government to step in to rescue the hospitality sector after a new report showed a drop of 7.2% in bar sales last year.
The report by the Drinks Industry Group of Ireland also found a decrease in the amount of alcohol being consumed by adults.
Spokesperson for the Cork branch of the Vintners Federation of Ireland Con Dennehy said people did not have enough disposable income to spend on alcohol.
He told Cork's RedFM that the Government needed to intervene to prevent any more job losses in the sector.
" They need to set out a plan as to what taxes are coming down the road, and how much everything is going to cost over the next two to three years…That would allow people to see what esxactly the situation is going to be," he said.
