A woman in her mid 50s has died in a collision in Moycullen, Co Galway.

A woman in her mid 50s has died in a collision in Moycullen, Co Galway.

It happened at around 4.30am on the N59 Galway-Clifden Road when the car she was driving hit a wall.

A male passenger, aged in his early 50s, was not seriously injured.

The deceased woman was taken to University Hospital Galway where a post mortem will be carried out.

The man was also taken there for treatment. The road is currently closed and diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was travelling on the N59 close to Moycullen between 4am and 5am to contact them at Salthill.
