Second Mountjoy inmate attacked

An inmate of Mountjoy Prison was treated in hospital tonight following another stabbing incident at the jail.

An inmate of Mountjoy Prison was treated in hospital tonight following another stabbing incident at the jail.

A spokesman for the Irish Prison Service said the man was in the exercise yard of the jail when he informed prison officers he had been attacked.

The man received stab wounds to the back and arm. The prison service confirmed the man was treated in the nearby Mater Hospital.

His injuries have been described as not life-threatening.
