President in Kerry today for Roger Casement commemorations

President Michael D Higgins will travel to Co Kerry today to attend commemorative events for Roger Casement.

One hundred years ago to the day, the diplomat and humanitarian was captured by British forces, having come ashore on Banna Strand from a German U-Boat.

As part of today's events, President Higgins will attend a wreath-laying ceremony and a re-enactment of Roger Casement's speech on Banna strand.
