More than 50 birds have died at a British quarantine centre hit by an outbreak of avian flu.

A consignment of Mesias from Taiwan is thought to be the source.

The deaths were revealed in a report launched after a parrot was thought to have died from the virus.

It had been kept with the Mesias - a small, finch-like bird - in Essex.
