Two people have died after a bus plunged from an overpass near Rome's main airport.

A 35-year-old driver and a passenger were killed in the accident. Another six passengers were treated in hospital.

Bus company employees said the bus was travelling from the town of Fiumicino, near Leonardo da Vinci airport.

Rome’s fire officials have ruled out the possibility of a flat tyre in the crash. They are investigating the possibility of driver illness or error.
