Preston North End have confirmed that David Nugent’s move to Portsmouth cost the Barclays Premier League side an initial £4.5m.

Preston North End have confirmed that David Nugent’s move to Portsmouth cost the Barclays Premier League side an initial £4.5m.

The fee could rise to £5.7m, however, if certain performance-related conditions agreed as part of the deal are met.

The England striker, 22, joined Harry Redknapp’s side last week after stalling over a move to top-flight new boys Sunderland.
