Harsh medicine for health service users after Budget, claims FF

Fianna Fáil says the failure of the Health Minister James Reilly to attract the support of his cabinet colleagues will lead to some harsh medicine for health service users in tomorrow's budget.

The party is warning of further cuts in health and disability services tomorrow.

They say a year of cuts targeted at people with disabilities means people are worried that they will no longer be able to live independently.

Fianna Fáil's health spokesman Billy Kelleher says the failure of Minister Reilly to inspire confidence among his cabinet colleagues will have consequences.

"We have a minister who has no confidence amongst his cabinet colleagues. He is isolated, so quite clearly he won't be able to delvier the budget that is necessary to provide a level of funding required for key areas such as mental health, disability and acute hospital settings.

"That's something we have a major concern with."
