Gardaí in Athlone have pulled the body of a man from the River Shannon.

Gardaí in Athlone have pulled the body of a man from the River Shannon.

They have been searching for the 23-year-old since early this morning. A team of divers found the man's body this afternoon.

It is understood he was seen walking along the riverbank when he slipped and fell into the water.

The name of the dead man won't be released until all relatives have been informed.
