A Public Service Pay Commission is to be established which will advise the government about the future pay of public servants.

The state is to retain the ability to negotiate directly with its employees regarding pay.

The Commission will be advisory in nature and will provide an initial report in the second quarter of next year.

Kevin Duffy - the former Chairman of the Labour Court - has also been appointed as Chairperson of the Public Service Pay Commission.
