The Dept of Agriculture is investigating the discovery of six calves found on the roadside in Co Tipperary without the necessary ear tags.

The latest animal find near Roscrea comes after appeals from Minister Joe Walsh for information on the illegal movement of animals.

It is the second time in a week that cattle without proper identification have been found in Co Tipperary.

The abandoned calves have been slaughtered.
