Colm Toibin misses out on Booker Prize

The winner of the Man Booker Prize for 2013 is New Zealand writer Eleanor Catton.

The 28-year-old was the youngest person ever shortlisted for the prize.

Irish writer Colm Toibin was one of the six writers shortlisted for this year's Booker, for his novel "The Testament of Mary".

Catton won the £50,000 award for her novel "The Luminaries" – an epic ghost story set in the goldfields of New Zealand in the 1860s.
