Gardaí in Dundalk are appealing for witnesses after a man was attacked and stabbed in the town yesterday evening.

Gardaí in Dundalk are appealing for witnesses after a man was attacked and stabbed in the town yesterday evening.

The man in his 40s was stabbed in the face neck and arm on Patrick Street at around 6.30.

The injured man walked into a nearby pub to raise the alarm - he's now in a critical condition in hospital.

Gardaí believe a gang of youths may be responsible.
