Arsenal Cup win was 'lucky' - Petit

Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit has branded his former team as ‘lucky Arsenal’.

The Gunners ran out 3-1 winners from Tuesday night’s FA Cup quarter-final replay at Stamford Bridge after absorbing heavy Chelsea pressure and hitting their London rivals on the break.

French international Petit told Chelsea TV: “It is unbelievable when you see the game again. Chelsea were so unlucky.

“Arsenal had just three shots on target and scored three goals. It is so typical and I wish one day Chelsea could be outplayed like that and still win.”

John Terry scored at both ends, his own-goal gifting Arsenal the lead before sparking a late rally which was ended by Lauren’s decisive strike eight minutes from time.

“I can’t imagine many people disagreeing with what Manu said,” reflected Terry, currently preparing with England for their forthcoming Euro 2004 qualifiers.

“We were all over them and I just feel gutted we lost.

“I scored a good goal in the end and I thought we would go on and win then, but although we had enough chances it was just not to be.”
