Bomb evacuees return home

The residents who were evacuated from their homes in the south Armagh village of Bessbrook were allowed to return last night.

The residents who were evacuated from their homes in the south Armagh village of Bessbrook were allowed to return last night.

The move came after British army bomb disposal experts located a mortar bomb fired at the local security base on Tuesday night.

The RUC said the device was found lying unexploded in the yard of a local commercial premises in the village and was defused.

No one was injured in the attack.
