A Cuban train with 800 passengers ran off the rails and crashed as it neared a station today, killing at least 14 people and injuring more than 70.

A Cuban train with 800 passengers ran off the rails and crashed as it neared a station today, killing at least 14 people and injuring more than 70.

The passengers included more than 140 members of the national university students federation who were headed for a gathering in eastern Cuba.

Six carriages jumped the tracks 75 miles south-east of the capital Havana.
