Actress Malandra Burrows entered the reality TV jungle camp today after being rescued by fellow contestants from I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!

The former Emmerdale soap star was plucked from a basket suspended from a high wire in a clearing by musician Matt Willis and journalist Lauren Booth.

“Oh my God this is f***ing scary,” said a gallant Matt as he tried to overcome his fear of heights to rescue the actress.

A tricky balancing act then ensued as he and Lauren tight-roped their way to Malandra – who played Kathy Glover in the soap opera – and eventually brought their new camp member back to safety.

The trio entered the jungle base with a question for their fellow contestants: “On average how many women has a man slept with – 14 or 26 ?”

The celebrities picked the right answer – 14 – winning a cheesecake and a bottle of champagne.

Former newsreader Jan Leeming burst into tears at the prospect of the sweet treat but the excitement was short-lived.

When the girls arrived at the Bush Telegraph to collect their prize – the cheesecake had been eaten by a rat.

But all was not lost and a replacement was delivered in the form of a chocolate cake.

Also during the day entertainer Jason Donovan and actress Phina Oruche brought back six meals to the camp after completing the latest Bushtucker Trial.

The pair took it in turn to pull stars from a giant termite mound but when they touched the sides of the slot a buzzer rang and their jungle teammate was showered with unsavoury objects.

During the trial Jason was covered with crickets, toads and maggots while Phina sang her way through a drenching of fish guts, spiders and cockroaches.

“All part of the experience” said the actress after the trial as she wiped slime from her face.
