Gardaí are searching for a Bolivian drug dealer who absconded while on temporary release from Mountjoy Prison yesterday.

Forty-two-year-old Juan Carlos Melgar Albar was granted release to do community work in Ballymun.

However, prison officers realised he had absconded yesterday evening when they were preparing to return the working party to the prison.

Alba was sentenced to eight years in July 2004 for his part in a cocaine processing laboratory in Kilkenny city.
