Charming 'Up' another triumph from Pixar

Those wonderful people at Pixar have done it again, just like we knew they would.

They have brought us yet another outstanding, inventive, clever, beautiful film that’s so packed with heart and emotion that you’ll be sniffling into a tissue in the first five minutes and then laughing, and then being thrilled, and then being beguiled at the sheer entertainment of it all.

They have brought us an unusual hero: Carl (brilliantly voiced by Asner) is a grumpy 78-year-old prone to punching out workmen who finds himself facing life in a home.

It wasn’t always so for when Carl married he and his late wife had a taste for adventure … so he now decides to chase his dreams and go looking for a boyhood explorer hero, Charles Muntz (Plummer).

His chosen mode of transport is more than unusual: thousands of balloons tied to his house, lift-off and it’s off to South America.

With, it turns out, a stowaway in the tubby form of eight-year-old Boy Scout, Russell (Nagai).

On the journey they meet a bird called Kevin, villains and a talking dog … and it’s all such a beautiful delight you’ll leave the cinema, well, up-lifted!
