The Irish Red Cross is seeking urgent donations for its relief effort in Bangladesh.

Millions of lives are at risk because of severe flooding in the country, leaving half of the land under water.

Tony Maryon of the Red Cross is in Bangladesh, where he said today that urgent aid was needed to prevent many more deaths from disease.

"The priority at the moment is actually getting to medical care," he said.
