Independent TD Finian McGrath has said he hopes to reach a deal with Fianna Fáil today that will see him become a member of the next Government.

The Dublin North TD confirmed this morning that he had been in talks with the party for the past six days.

He says the negotiations have been tough, but business-like.

Mr McGrath says he is seeking a package of measures to cater for the elderly, the sick and the disabled and is happy to do business with any party if these measures are forthcoming.
