A strong Buccaneers side proved too strong for Co. Carlow at a rain-lashed Dubbary Park, as tries from Wayne Munn and Anthony Nash handed them a well-deserved 20-14 success, their fifth of the season.

The Pirates were ten points to the good at the break thanks to centre Munn's effort and a conversion and penalty from young out-half David Connellan.

Nash crashed over in the 58th minute with Connellan adding the extras and a second penalty for the Ireland U21 hopeful spelled the end for Carlow.

The visitors did not give up hope though and got back into the game, albeit against the run of play. Tries from Billy Murphy and Andy Melville, both converted by Australian out-half Ben Young handed them an unlikely bonus point which sees them remain in the top half of the table, in seventh position.
