A Garda investigation has been launched into how information about plans to charge over 20 water protesters was leaked to the media.
Those involved in the case - which is in connection with the Jobstown water demonstration last year - said they learned of the potential charges from television news.
A Garda spokesperson said the force will not comment further on the issue, but confirmed an investigation into the leak is underway.
TD Paul Murphy said he finds it incredible that the media knew about plans to charge people in relation to the 2014 incident before those expected to be charged.
He has lodged complaints with the Garda Commissioner, GSOC and the DPP on the matter. He also said he expects to be one of those facing charges.
The protest in question saw the Tánaiste, Joan Burton, confined to her vehicle for over two hours, and she is expected to be called to give evidence if the issue comes goes to trial.
