Mel Gibson is set to be cleared by child protection services.
The ‘Lethal Weapon’ star and his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva – who have a nine-month-old daughter Lucia together - are both being investigated by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) following allegations of domestic abuse involving the tot.
However, the case is due to close in two weeks and neither Mel and Oksana will be charged.
A source said: "The case will be officially closed when several more people that deal with Lucia are officially interviewed, and that should take place in the next few weeks. The people that play a key role in Lucia's life have already been interviewed, and barring any bombshell developments from the remaining people that are going to be dealt with, the case will be closed, with no action being taken against Mel or Oksana."
Oksana has accused Mel of hitting her while she was holding Lucia during a row on January 6, while Mel claimed Oksana shook the tot, so the investigation was launched.
But the DCFS reportedly believe Mel is an excellent father to Lucia and the child has bonded to him.
Although they have both been cleared, if officials feel Lucia’s welfare is in danger again they can conduct another investigation.
The source added to RadarOnline.com: "Just because no action is being taken at this point, and the investigation appears to be wrapping up, doesn't mean that officials won't get involved again. If there are concerns about Lucia's welfare again in the future, DCFS will become active again."
