The central executive committee of the ASTI will meet this afternoon to vote on a peace deal brokered by the Labour Court.

It is hoped the package will finally end the long-running dispute and allow teachers and students to return to their classrooms.

The deal being put to the executive committee of the ASTI after four days of negotiations at the Labour Court under the chairmanship of Finbarr Flood, will no doubt have reassurances to the teachers and a better pay package.

The 180 members of the committee will this afternoon vote on whether to accept the deal or not, and then put it to a ballot of its 17,000 teachers.
