Beyonce and U2 tipped to headline Glasto

Beyonce Knowles and U2 are reportedly set to headline this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

The ‘Halo’ singer and the Dublin rockers – who were forced to pull out of their headline slot last year because of a back injury to Bono – will be the main acts at the legendary event in Somerset, alongside ‘Fix You’ hitmakers Coldplay.

According to website Holymoly.com, U2 will play the Pyramid Stage on Friday June 24, with Beyonce taking the top slot on the Saturday, while Coldplay have been given the prestigious closing slot on the Sunday night.

Although she has never performed at Glastonbury before, she did visit the festival in 2008 when husband Jay-Z headlined and organiser Michael Eavis has previously said he is keen to bring another huge US name to the event.

He said: "There's an American artist that I’ve been wanting to have for years and yonks and yonks and yonks."

Because U2 were forced to cancel last year’s appearance, Michael has always said the band would perform in 2011, while Coldplay have been rumoured for months.

Last year, Gorillaz replaced U2 as headliners, with Muse and Stevie Wonder talking the other places on the bill.
