A man in his mid-70s has died after the car he was driving hit a ditch in Co Clare this afternoon.

A man in his mid-70s has died after the car he was driving hit a ditch in Co Clare this afternoon.

It happened on the Loughville to Inch Road, just off the Ennis to Ennistymon Road, at 12.10 in the afternoon.

A woman who was also in the car has been taken to University Hospital Limerick, where her condition has been described as stable.

A post mortem will be carried out on the man's body, which was removed to the same hospital.

Gardaí in Ennis are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash, to contact them.
