A 21-year-old Irish man has been stabbed during a brawl in the Australian city Perth.

A 21-year-old Irish man has been stabbed during a brawl in the Australian city Perth.

The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed it is providing consular assistance to the man's family.

According to reports in Australian media, the man was stabbed in the neck during a fight involving a number of people yesterday afternoon.

He is said to be in a critical condition in hospital.

A man in his 30s has been arrested and is due to appear in court in Perth in relation to the stabbing.

It was later revealed that the victim is from Wexford.
