Gardaí are warning that security will be tight for this Saturday’s Slane concert in Co Meath. Hundreds of officers will police the event on ground, in air and on the banks of the Boyne.

While a record 160,000 fans descended on Slane for last year's U2 concert, less than 60,000 are expected at next Saturday's gig.

However, tight security and travel plans are being put in place to ensure the smooth running of the event and the safety and enjoyment of the fans.

A special court will sit on the day to deal with any trouble makers or drug pushers. The village of Slane will be a no go area for traffic for much of the weekend and there is also a ban on camping in the area.
