Padraig Flynn has told the Mahon Tribunal that he saw nothing wrong with taking £50,000 from Mr Gilmartin and would accept a similarly large donation if in the same position today.

Asked by Judge Alan Mahon if he saw anything wrong with accepting a donation equal to his salary from someone who was neither a friend nor a constituent, he replied: “No and I’d do the same again.”

Mr Flynn also said he did not think it would have been prudent to take notes at the meeting when the cheque was handed over.
