ESB repair crews are working to restore power to more than 1,500 homes left without electricity yesterday due to heavy winds over the weekend.

Up to 40,000 homes suffered disruption to the electricity supply because of the storms, but most were reconnected yesterday.

Co Wicklow was among the worst affected areas.
