Soccer: Birmingham fan misses game because his bottom's too big

Birmingham City's biggest fan says he won't travel to the Worthington Cup final game in Cardiff because his backside would take up three seats.

Birmingham City's biggest fan says he won't travel to the Worthington Cup final game in Cardiff because his backside would take up three seats.

Barry Austin, who weighs 34 stones, says he couldn't stop two other fans from seeing the game.

He's slimmed from 52 stone down to his present weight, but he's still too big to fit into one - or even two - seats.

He said: "I was gutted when it dawned on me. I've been dieting but my backside is still the size of a small car."

He added: "I couldn't take up three seats at this sell-out 70,000 game. It would have stopped two Blues fans from getting in. I'll shout on the lads from my lounge.

He has a special deal with the club who give him three seats on his season ticket.

A spokesman for Birmingham City said: "It's a pity. He is the club's biggest fan."
