The Ceann Comhairle temporarily adjourned the Dáil this morning after a row with Fine Gael TD James Bannon.

John O'Donohue suspended proceedings after Mr Bannon refused to withdraw a charge that he was acting in a "political" manner and refused to leave the chamber.

The accusation was made by the Longford TD after Mr O'Donoghue refused to allow a discussion on comments made by Environment Minister John Gormley in relation to directly elected mayors.
