Fianna Fail TD Mary Coughlan has accused the national media of bias in relation to its coverage of the issues surrounding Wednesday’s abortion referendum.

Fianna Fail TD Mary Coughlan has accused the national media of bias in relation to its coverage of the issues surrounding Wednesday’s abortion referendum.

Ms Coughlan, who played a leading role in Fianna Fail’s failed campaign for a ‘yes’ vote, said:

"I think that in a lot of the national editorials in particular there would have been a leaning towards a ‘no’ vote and certainly there would have been many who would have written in complete support of the ‘no’ campaign."

However, the Donegal TD also said it is not possible to know if this influenced the outcome of the vote.
